Not A Normal Thanksgiving

Image
Hey fam! This was another good week. We have found a few new people this week which is getting harder because now that it's starting to get colder it's harder to find people out on the street to talk to so we are having to go tracting which is not that effective but we're doing it anyways. I hope Thanksgiving was awesome for everyone. So our ward has a calendar that people sign up to feed us and the person who signed up for Thanksgiving was an old single guy in the ward so he asked us if he could bring a pizza to the church and we could eat there. We were kinda bummed out because all the English missionaries were getting legit dinners and stuff. So on Thanksgiving morning, one of the sisters was talking to me and asked us what we were doing for Thanksgiving and it didn't sit too well with her so she asked one of the people in her ward if we could come over for Thanksgiving while I was standing right there so it was super awkward. So it didn't turn out to be so bad. ...

Not As Easy As The MTC

Hey family!!     This week was really good. I got my new companion, Elder Almonte!! He's from the Dominican Republic so he’s a native Spanish speaker which is awesome to have. At the beginning of this week, we put Daniel on date for December 8 so hopefully that works out. If there's one thing I've learned about the mission field is that it's not as easy to make me keep their commitments as it is in the MTC. My new companion and I are trying to focus on finding this transfer. It's so hard. The other day we knocked doors for 5 straight hours and found absolutely no one. I hate it but I love it. The weather is starting to get a little colder at night but I can't complain because it's about 75 during the day. The past couple days we've found a couple cockroaches in our apartment. It's nasty. And funny because we’re all 18 to 20 year olds freaking out over a little bug. That's pretty much all that happened this week to be honest. My companion and I ha...

Responsibility Falls On Me

This week is transfers. My companion is heading up to the mountains and I'm staying here in the area. I meet my new companion tomorrow but I know he's a kid from the Dominican Republic so I'm companions with a native Spanish speaker!! This week was so crazy. First, Elder Kastello and I ran into this guy on Monday who asked us if we'd be interested in hearing how Jesus Christ and God are the same person and so were like sure ya this'll probably be quick. He explained it to us for over an hour and a half! We were standing there just so bored. I don't think he realized who we were or what our purpose was but it sucked and he started to get really frustrated when we weren't convinced.   We met with Rosa and Mizael this week and they loved church. Their kids are always asking us when the next activity is and about mutual and activity days and stuff and the other night we were talking to their kids about missions because they had a lot of questions and then when w...

Feetloaf And Witch Fingers

Hey guys! What an awesome week. So Monday I was riding back from the church that we were hanging out at for p day, and I had a package under my arm and so I only was riding with one hand. I hit a speed bump and the handlebars on my bike twisted a funny way and I totally ate it into the ground. I looked ridiculous because I couldn't brace my fall because I was holding onto the box. So now I'm in a wrist brace so that kinda sucks. Then Tuesday morning we had a mandatory bed bug check which sucked. We had to move everything in our whole apartment 12-18 inches from the wall then we had to take all the clothes out of our drawers and take the drawers out and flip our dressers upside down. Then we had to go through our whole house and take all the outlets and light switch plates off. It took us 4 hours. And then that night we had to put everything back. It was terrible.      We had a lesson with Mizael that night and then one later in the week with Mizael and Rosa. They are our ...
