Area Came To A Halt

Image
This week our area came to a halt. The past couple weeks my companion and I have been doing well at using our time and extremely effectively and we were seeing results and everything was going great, and then this week out of nowhere everything stopped. We actually went tracting a couple times this week which is completely unheard of. No one in the mountains ever goes tracting and there's good reason for it. But I know that as my companion and I are diligent and are trying to put an effort into finding someone to teach that the Lord will bless us with someone.     We had a lesson with Randy this week and we put him on a firm date of February 23rd. That is going to be a difficult date to keep because of a word of wisdom issue but he is soooo determined to be baptized. He has brought his whole family to church the last two weeks in a row so we're hoping they see his example and want to get baptized soon after him.     My companion and I have been working with this cath...

Anit-Mormon Questions

Image
So this week was super awesome! We baptized Sissy!! It was such an amazing experience. It's the first baptism I've had and it was seriously the coolest experience. After the baptism she texted us and bore her testimony and it was really good. She was confirmed a member of the church and she loves the ward and the ward loves her.     We've been working with these new guys that we found a couple weeks ago and they are super cool and fun but they are super devout Catholics so we're trying to move past that. They ask us a lot of anti-Mormon questions which are sometimes hard to get around but we're working with them. They invited us over for dinner this last week and we went and then had a discussion after.     We're still working with Randy and his family and Randy is so ready to be baptized. He brought the whole family to church this week and they loved one of the speaker's talks. Also President Nelson is coming to speak at the Arizona Cardinals Stadium on Feb...

Another 12 Inches Of Snow

Image
This week was pretty interesting. So we were supposed to have a baptism this last Saturday for Sissy, but she ran into some problems so we're gonna have this Saturday.      A couple days ago it dumped another 12 inches of snow on us just when all the other snow had melted. My companion and I have been using it as an opportunity for a lot of service. With the snow on Sunday, all of our meetings got cancelled and we had to stay in our apartment for a lot of the day. That was actually kinda terrible.     Something kinda cool that we did the other day is that we went to help out some people we want to start teaching on their farm. They have llamas and sheep and a donkey over there so we were just helping feed them and stuff. So that was pretty fun. There's not really much else. We're meeting with this guy and he's determined to be baptized and he said that he thinks that his wife will follow him and they have 2 baptism age kids so that could be a family thing. In my...

"Oh, It's The Mormons"

Image
This week was kind of a crazy week. Tuesday was New Year's day and so they didn't really want us cold contacting people so after our one lesson we were hanging out with some other missionaries. Then we had an overnight exchange with the zone leaders (which I requested) Tuesday night and then all of Wednesday I was in their area. I'm so grateful for the opportunity that we had to do that. I finally got to see how mountain work really should be done and ever since that exchange we've been a lot busier and we've seen a little more success.      Thursday we went tracting and we found this guy named Alec who's met with missionaries in the past and said that he's good where he's at but then I started talking about the Book of Mormon with him and by the end of the conversation unconvinced him to let us come over and read with him. So hopefully that happens and goes well.      We also went tracting another day and we knocked on this guy's door and he answere...
