The Language Is Hard

Hola familia. Happy birthday Cody!! Can I get a geez mer? Last Tuesday I got to the MTC around 3 o’clock and we ate and dropped off our luggage and then they let us email our parents and tell them we got here. Then we went to our rooms and we were supposed to meet our companions but mine wasn't there yet. I have 3 other elders living in my room. I met my companion a couple hours later. His name is Elder Smith and he's from Layton, Utah. He's really cool. Unfortunately, he and I are the two worst Spanish speakers in our district. This language is hard. The first week I was here was probably the most depressing and stressful weeks of my entire life. They require so much of us and assign us a ton of homework. The language has really been frustrating me and it's what makes me the most stressed. This place makes me miss doing nothing at home. My companion and I are really falling behind everyone else in our district at the language. Sometimes my teacher will tell our district to start practicing what we're talking about and then he'll pull me and my companion aside and continue teaching. We are currently teaching an investigator named Mariana. Our lessons are really bad so far, but we are getting better. We have taught 4 lessons so far and it's really hard because we can't speak the language so we can’t understand or answer her questions.

 

 

The highlight of the week was that Elder Bednar came to the MTC on Friday to speak with us. It was almost 3 hours and it was sooo good! It really reminded me that they really are called by God. The spirit was so strong. 

 

 

To the family: this week has been extremely hard for me. Easily the hardest thing I've ever done. Please keep the letters coming. The ones on paper. I can't read my email during the week. Tbh I've had a really hard time this week bc I've just been really depressed and stressed and overwhelmed. Emily, thank you so much for the poem. It really helped a lot. Please keep me in your prayers. I love you guys. Also, mom please send me a copy of my patriarchal blessing.
